With their second album, A War of Light Cones, officially released today on Black Market Activities, Phantom Glue team up with Decibel Magazine to offer the world "Biocult", a blazing track off the new LP.

Decibel's Jeff Treppel searches for the words to define the Boston rockers' sound: "The band play in the same muck as Mastodon but they bring a sense of desperation and despair that their influences don't. Sort of like funeral sludge metal, I guess?" A recent MetalSucks review made a similar connection, stating, "These dudes would be right at home on tour with Mastodon".

The band themselves have listed Neurosis, Trouble, and The Jesus Lizard as key inspirations, as well as H.P. Lovecraft whose supernatural tales were a heavy influence on frontman Matt Oates' lyrics. Produced by Converge's Kurt Ballou (a former bandmate of Oates' in The Huguenots), A War of Light Cones is reportedly an alternate, occult history of Colonial America. Burnin' sludge rock meets spooky concepts - get it!
