The Diver Blue EP is out April 8th on Almost Ready Records, home to releases by Liquor Store, Nobunny, and Big Dipper. Diver Blue was produced by Kevin McMahon at Marcata Recording (The Walkmen, Titus Andronicus, Swans) and mastered by Carl Saff (Guided By Voices, Unsane).

TIGER FLOWERS Cruisin' video

"Did Tiger Flowers just create the video of the year? I think so!"

So states Metal Injection today, as the site presents the premiere of Tiger Flowers' video for the song, "Cruisin' 'til the Wheels Fall Off".

Directed by Steve Leach, the action-packed, two-minute clip casts Tiger Flowers frontman Jesse James Madre in full John Rambo mode, hunting down his hapless bandmates. Madre has credited the Rambo character's plight in First Blood as the original inspiration for the song.

MetalSucks has called Madre, "the best frontman in the Brooklyn scene." BrooklynVegan has likened Tiger Flowers to "elders who pushed the genre into new directions, like Deadguy, Converge, and Rorschach".

Tiger Flowers' debut full-length, Dead Hymns, is out April 8th on Melotov Records, home to releases by The Banner, Ghostlimb, Old Wounds, ACxDC, and more. Dead Hymns was produced by Elliot Geller (Malignancy, Dim Mak) and mastered by Shane Frisby (Turmoil, Revocation).

Tiger Flowers will hit the road in April for a tour of the Eastern US.

ACxDC + Melotov Records

Modern-day kings of powerviolence, forerunners of "Satanic Straightedge", Los Angeles' mighty Antichrist Demoncore has officially teamed up with Melotov Records for the release of its debut full-length LP. Also popularly known as ACxDC, the band enters LA's The Pit Studio next week with producer Taylor Young (Xibalba, Twitching Tongues) to record the as-yet-untitled album.

With origins dating back to 2003, ACxDC returned to the scene in 2010 after a hiatus and has been systematically killing ever since. Although its Melotov Records debut is its first full-length, the band has a slew of EPs and splits under its belt, released via labels like Deep Six and To Live A LieFounder and frontman Sergio Amalfitano has described the band's mission as a "war on any and all fundamentalism". A pillar of the LA scene, ACxDC has played in the LA area with every band that matters and has toured with the likes of Capitalist Casualties. Current members also do time in other bands, most notably drummer Jorge Luis Herrera who bashes for powerviolence veterans Despise You.

Melotov Records is the LA-based label founded in 2008 by Melanie Voltz. Now distributed exclusively by Converge frontman Jake Bannon's label, Deathwish Inc, Melotov is on a tear with recent releases by The Banner, Bone Dance, and Ghostlimb, and new upcoming 2014 releases by ACxDC, Tiger Flowers, and more.

ACxDC's debut LP is slated for a late spring 2014 release on Melotov. The band has a European summer tour in the works, including festivals such as Fluff Fest and Obscene Extreme.

Melotov's Melanie Voltz states:

"Words cannot describe how excited I am to be working with ACxDC. Not only are they monumental in the Los Angeles punk/hardcore community, but their beliefs and methods of promoting them are something I strongly identify with – veganism, marriage equality, anti-authority, etc. Antichrist Demoncore are a staple band, not just for their genre, but for encouraging change and opening conversations on difficult subjects in a way that makes it accessible for people within the aggressive music community. They are also some of the most down-to-earth dudes I've met. Their work ethic and moral codes, coupled with their insane live performances and equally insane 'audience participation', had me hooked upon initial exposure. I can't tell you how damn cool it is to now have the opportunity to be their home for this release."

HIGH WATER + New Noise

With the self-titled debut LP by High Water out today on Vitriol Records, New Noise Magazine premieres the Bay Area band's video for the song, "Blue Highway".

Produced by Jack Shirley, producer of Deafheaven's Sunbather, High Water's debut LP evokes the earnest, weathered vibe of certain early '90s rock, a far cry from the hardcore punk of High Water frontman Neal Sharma's other band, Ghostlimb

Vitriol Records boss (and Sharma's bandmate in Ghostlimb), Justin Smith, has described High Water's sound as "somewhere between guitar-centric '90s rock and whiskey-soaked awesomeness". Smith was named "one of the most interesting people in Los Angeles" by the LA Weekly in its "People 2013" issue.

"Cali rockers High Water bring the crunch and power of '90s-era alt-rock roaring back... Fronted by Neal Sharma of hardcore noisemongers Ghostlimb, the band specializes in hard, feedbacky pop, coming across as a wry-voiced, less tangled-up Dinosaur Jr."
-High Times

"Bay Area rockers High Water... sound like no time has passed since Husker Du, The Replacements, and Dinosaur Jr were influential on the alternative-leaning mainstream..."
-BrooklynVegan

"Telecaster guitar-driven earnestness and 'whiskey-soaked awesomeness' taken straight from the Nineties. Singer Neal Sharma does double duty in the hardcore band Ghostlimb, and one can detect the punk rock aesthetic in some of the driving riffs... But these songs are crafted in the traditional sense, with hooky melodies, building dynamics, and prominent lyrics... In an era of increasingly louder, heavier, and more produced music, the band's stripped-down approach feels especially welcome."
-East Bay Express

"High Water is the new project from Neal Sharma of hardcore punkers Ghostlimb, which finds him trading the frenetic tempos of that band for a more measured approach... While some may say he is channeling the louder side of indie rock bands such as Dinosaur Jr and The Replacements, this band also reaches back and gets the classic lurch and volume of Neil Young's work with Crazy Horse... High Water has done an excellent job of taking this classic sound and updating it for the present day. It shows that indie rock can still have a little bit of grit and dirt."

1-800-BAND - Diver Blue

Almost Ready Records announces the April 8th release of Diver Blue, the new EP by New York City power-pop rockers 1-800-BAND.

Although a part of the modern-day New York scene, 1-800-BAND belongs in spirit to the New York of the late 1970s – the "concrete streets and soaring buildings of the vicious city... torn pantyhose, cracked windshield, lipstick...", in the band's own words. New EP Diver Blue's four nuggets of keyboard-driven bliss might sound at first like anthems of sunny summer beach parties and suburban high school proms, but they are in fact the fever dreams of denim-clad rockers, prowling the streets on the hottest night of the year. It is the eve of the 1980s – punk's first big boom is in the rearview, the New Wave is still swelling, and 1-800-BAND is on the cover of Circus Magazine.

WFMU has described the co-ed quartet's songs as "power-punk-pop gems" and Time Out New York has called its turn-of-the-decade vibe, "sticky-sweet power-pop". Journalist and DJ-about-town Doug Mosurock wrote of 1-800-BAND on his Still Single blog: "The sort of thing you might have found on a major, back between 1978-81, somewhere on the shelf between The Beat and The Cars. Recommended." The Cars is indeed an apt reference point, residing in the limbo between blue collar 70s rock and the turbo-charged electric torque of the 80s to come. 1-800-BAND – frontman Al Huckabee, keyboardist Polly Watson, bassist Robbie Kongress, and drummer Aaron Carroll – owns that limbo, bottles of cheap red wine in hand.

Diver Blue was produced by Kevin McMahon at Marcata Recording, the studio originally founded by The Walkmen. Chief engineer at Marcata since 2003, McMahon has engineered and mixed albums by The Walkmen, Real Estate, Titus Andronicus, Swans, and more. Diver Blue was mastered by Carl Saff (Guided By Voices, Unsane). The EP follows a self-titled LP and a split 7" with Snakes.

The Diver Blue tracklist is as follows:

1) Diver Blue
2) Make a Comeback
3) Here Comes Summer
4) Many Happy Returns

Almost Ready Records, home to releases by Nobunny, Big Dipper, and Liquor Store, will release Diver Blue as a limited EP in blue and black vinyl, and as a digital download.

1-800-BAND hits the road in the spring to tour the US around Almost Ready's release of Diver Blue.
