OLD WOUNDS new album, spring tour

Old Wounds has completed work on its second full-length album: The Suffering Spirit.

The New Jersey band recorded with producer Andreas Magnusson at Planet Red Studios in Richmond, Virginia. Magnusson's resume includes albums by The Black Dahlia Murder, Born of Osiris, Despised Icon, and many more.

Old Wounds drummer Brandon Gallagher gives this report: "We just completed the recording of The Suffering Spirit, our second LP. I think this release accurately expresses our growth as a band both musically and emotionally. We've been on the road almost nonstop since the release of our first LP, From Where We Came Is Where We'll Rest, and in between tours we worked on writing better songs that were released on the Trenchfoot split and the Death Projection EP. Once it was time to sit down and really start focusing on this new album we knew exactly what we wanted and we went for it. Going into the studio with Andreas was a big help too. He knows his craft extremely well and I think he brought out the best in us."

Regarded as a solid young prospect within this decade's hardcore scene, Old Wounds has worked tirelessly and has allowed its music to evolve into something bigger than any one genre. More than a prospect now, Old Wounds starts the next phase of its career with The Suffering Spirit.

The Suffering Spirit will see a summer 2015 release via Good Fight Music.

Pitchfork had these words for Old Wounds' latest release, Death Projection, also on Good Fight: "Emotionally charged, stylistically diverse metalcore, refreshingly devoid of the sugary melodies and bone-dumb breakdowns that propagate so freely within the mainstream hardcore scene... Frontman Kevin Iavaroni is capable of the razored vocal acrobatics of vets like Converge's Jacob Bannon, but he knows when to tone down his howls for a bit of La Dispute talk-singing... It's a furious – and meticulous – piece of work."

Old Wounds hits the road this month for a spring tour of the US and Canada that includes dates with Cult Leader and Biohazard, and appearances at Nate Fest (a benefit for Ensign's Nate Gluck's cancer treatment), Southeast Beast Fest, and more.
