OLD WOUNDS - The Summer of Suffering

Old Wounds has added even more new dates to its monstrous summer tour schedule, dubbed "The Summer of Suffering" in reference to upcoming new album The Suffering Spirit.

On the road for two straight months, the 'Wounds will team up with friends such as Axis, Vein, Of Feather and Bone, Head Creeps, and Orthodox along the way. The band caps off the summer with an appearance at Detroit's Don't Call It A Fest, alongside Eyehategod, See You Next Tuesday, and more.

The New Jersey boys' second full-length album, The Suffering Spirit was produced by Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder, Despised Icon), and will see its official release on June 30th via Good Fight Music. A masterpiece of power and hooks, The Suffering Spirit represents a whole new phase in this dedicated band's career.

Good Fight Music has launched a stream of new song "On Leather Wings," off The Suffering Spirit, here.

"On Leather Wings" shows Old Wounds indulging its dark rock tendencies – while the band's foundation is in the heaviest metallic hardcore, songs like "On Leather Wings" hint at a more theatrical side, indebted to bands like Type O Negative and Danzig.

Other new songs off The Suffering Spirit were premiered in recent weeks through outlets such as AllMusic, Alternative Press, and BrooklynVegan.

"Emotionally charged, stylistically diverse metalcore, refreshingly devoid of the sugary melodies and bone-dumb breakdowns that propagate so freely within the mainstream hardcore scene... Frontman Kevin Iavaroni is capable of the razored vocal acrobatics of vets like Converge's Jacob Bannon, but he knows when to tone down his howls for a bit of La Dispute talk-singing. The instrumentation tends toward primal, primordial screamo... It's a furious – and meticulous – piece of work."
–Pitchfork

"This young New Jersey trio play metallic hardcore... which tips its hat to acts like Turmoil, Disembodied, and Buried Alive."

–Guitar World

"Punishing New Jersey hardcore... On their second album, the upcoming The Suffering Spirit, New Jersey hardcore crew Old Wounds turns up the malevolence..."

–AllMusic

"Old Wounds are making a name for themselves the old-fashioned way: getting in people's faces and freaking them out with punked-out metalcore."
–Alternative Press

"Youthful frantic hardcore sounds with churning metallic guitars... These guys are bringing '90s metallic hardcore back, taking influence from groups such as Turmoil and Indecision, and snowballing into a bigger piece of a new generation of hardcore."
–Mass Appeal

"Another high-powered speaker wrecker, turning the aggression way up on hardcore chugs and throat-charring screams."
–Brooklyn Vegan
