ASPHALT GRAVES + Stereogum

"The band draws heavily on the hooky blastmasters of yore throughout their debut, The New Primitive. You can hear a lot of Assuck, Righteous Pigs, and 'we just became death metal'-era Napalm Death in particular... The combination of the beeftastic production, Shannon's pristine blasting, and Netherton's unmistakable snarl calls to mind the lean and hungry iteration of Misery Index that appeared in the early '00s... But all these comparisons kind of sell Asphalt Graves short, as this unit's got a hyperactive personality all its own."

"World, meet Asphalt Graves, your new favorite death-grind band."

Stereogum has premiered "Who Do You Serve?", a lean, mean, 80-second slice of the debut album by Asphalt Graves, The New Primitive.

Asphalt Graves comprises current and former members of Misery Index, Dying Fetus, The Black Dahlia Murder, War Torn, and GWAR.

Coming July 8th on Vitriol Records, The New Primitive promises to be "a modern take on classic death-grind." As Stereogum figures it, "You can hear a lot of Assuck, Righteous Pigs, and 'we just became death metal'-era Napalm Death in particular...

The New Primitive was recorded at various locations: Audio Schmaudio Studios, GWAR's Slave Pit Studios, and Mindscape Studios. The album was mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer and Agoraphobic Nosebleed.

Vitriol Records is the LA-based label owned by Justin Smith of Graf Orlock and Ghostlimb, whom the LA Weekly dubbed "The Heavy Metal Professor" and named "one of the most interesting people in Los Angeles."
