SOMETHING IS WAITING + BrooklynVegan

Sinister, swaggering, hard-grooving Chicago creep-rockers Something Is Waiting have premiered their entire debut album, The Something Is Waiting Band, via BrooklynVegan.

Something Is Waiting comprises ex-members of Chicago bands Jar'd Loose and (Lone) Wolf and Cub, as well as guitarist Pete Grossman, co-owner/engineer at Bricktop Recording (Weekend Nachos, Harm's Way, Like Rats).

As BrooklynVegan editor Andrew Sacher notes, the Something Is Waiting sound picks up where Jar'd Loose left off: "Musically it's got similar reference points to Jar'd Loose – Jesus Lizard/Scratch Acid, Bleach/In Utero... If you dig that stuff, you're gonna find this band hits a sweet spot that's pretty close to home."

While the noise-rock and grunge foundation is in full effect, Something Is Waiting also veers into a looser, streetwalkin' rock n' roll vibe, represented by the band's stripped-down blooze-pounding rhythms and frontman Eddie Gobbo's harsh Axl Rose delivery. Gobbo has cited hard rockers like ZZ Top as a big influence.

But lyrically Gobbo is on a whole other level of acidic, poetic diatribes – stories about his life and the state of the current music scene, unsettlingly detailed.

The Something Is Waiting Band is one of the most interesting and daring debuts you will hear in 2016, riding its own wave outside the trend pool. The album comes out this Friday, July 22nd on The Path Less Traveled Records. It was recorded and mixed by Pete Grossman at Bricktop, and mastered by Carl Saff (Red Fang, Coliseum).

Something Is Waiting, live:

"We first became acquainted with [Eddie Gobbo] via the power and fury of noise rock crushers Jar'd Loose. That band is sadly no more, but Gobbo's new act, Something Is Waiting, picks up right where Jar'd Loose left off."
–Decibel

"A stripped-down racket so snotty and unconcerned with the niceties of mainstream society, it would have scared the shit out of The Sex Pistols in their prime."

–MetalSucks

"A new and unique presence in the extreme music world... Something Is Waiting purvey a singular style that is equal parts infectious and blood-pumping. The band effectively combine noise rock's penchant for acidic angularity with '70/80s hard rock swagger... Think The Jesus Lizard-meets-Motley Crue."
